Owned and operated by Bob & Pat Borton

In the summer of 1976, Bob and Pat had an in-ground swimming pool installed in their back yard by a local Victoria company. The company was unorganized, took forever, and made a lot of mistakes that had to be fixed by Bob as it went along. Bob and Pat spent 51 hours of their time fixing the problems created by the installer.

The pool turned out OK, only because they made it so themselves. They also ran into problems with pool sanitization, and ended up going to learning seminars in Vancouver to understand pool water chemistry.

This prompted Bob to start his own pool business as a back yard hobby, even though they both had full time jobs. Bob started installing in-ground pools, and selling the program to keep them clean from his home in Victoria BC. Pat tested water, kept the books, and answered the phone. The business grew over the years, by word of mouth from their happy customers.

Spas were added later, and the first store was opened in March 1988 in Langford, just west of Victoria BC. Bob continued his full time job until Summer 1989, then made the business his total commitment. By this time the store needed both Bob and Pat, as well as their son Howard full time, (already involved part time). Soon, their daughter-in-law Wendy was also working for the business. A real family operation.

Borton Spas and Pools was started to provide a service which was lacking at the time Bob and Pat needed it. They have maintained their total commitment to providing this service to Greater Victoria, (and outlying areas), with continuous learning, teaching, new products and technology. One look at the "Wall of Fame" in their store shows how their hard work, and caring have made them so popular among hot tub and pool owners in the Victoria area.
