Safety First
Here are some safety tips to make your spa safe and enjoyable for everyone
- Watch children at all times in the spa.
- Always check the temperature before entering the spa.
- Use only plastic or acrylic glassware.
Your Spa and Winter
If you experience a power outage during freezing weather DO NOT DRAIN YOUR HOT TUB. If the power outage is short lived (a few hours) the hot tub temp will not drop very far if you have a well insulated tub and the lid is left on.
If the power outage is for an extended period of time you need to turn off the main power to the tub, (breaker or GFCI) so the hot tub cannot activate on its own once the power is restored. This ensures you will be able to check the hot tub for frozen pipes or equipment and have a chance to thaw them out before the power to the tub is turned on and damages your equipment.
If you are not sure what to do please call your local spa dealer to find out the proper procedure for your specific tub
Protecting Your Investment / Spa Maintenance Tips
Your investment will give you many years of enjoyment. To ensure trouble-free maintenance we offer the following tips;
- Water Chemistry: Spa chemistry is critical. Our tap or well water tends to be aggressive due to low alkalinity, low hardness and variable PH levels. This can damage equipment which is not covered by the manufacturers warranty.
- Filter Care: Your cartridge filter is designed to be cleanable and re-useable. Filters must be rinsed out once a week and cleaned once a month with an appropriate filter cleaner to maintain proper water flow. Your filters should be replaced every two years.
- Spa Surface: Use a proper tub surface cleaner (non-sudsing and non-abrasive) and a soft cloth or sponge to clean tub when empty. Don‘t forget to Rinse! A small amount of surface cleaner on a soft cloth can be used to remove water line build up when the tub is full. Never use any product or tool on the tub that could scratch or score the surface.
- Draining and Refilling: Your tub should be drained and refilled a minimum of every six months. Depending on the size of the tub and the amount of usage it gets you may need to refill more often. If you are not sure contact your local dealer who can advise you on your specific situation. Please refer to your owner's manual for the specifics of draining and refilling your particular hot tub. Most reputable hot tub manufacturers provide a copy of their manuals on line for you to read or download. Don‘t forget to fill the tub by placing the garden hose in the filter container to prevent airlocks
- Cover Care: Use a good quality protector and cleaner with UV inhibitors to keep the marine grade naugahyde cover soft and waterproof. Open zippers to air dry and wipe out the moisture a few times a year.
Maintain your water with proper water balancing, conditioning and sanitizing. A weekly test and adjustment at home as well as a monthly professional test will ensure bathing comfort and prevent damage to the equipment. Never use more of any chemical than is recommended.
